PRACTICAL INFORMATION

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation for ESMS 2023 young researchers is included in the fee. A block of double rooms in one of the dormitories within walking distance of INTiBS PAN has been pre-booked for them (September 10-15, 2023). For the comfort of participants, the name of a potential roommate must be provided during registration. Otherwise, roommates will be selected by their sex.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

INTiBS PAN is within walking distance (15-30 min) of the dormitories, as well as the city center, entertainment venues and the Old Town. However, public transportation (buses and trams) is also available. Electronic (virtual) tickets (for a single-ride/vehicle, or 15 min, or 30 min etc.) can be purchased from vending machines installed in vehicles (using debit or credit cards only). Such tickets are registered in the system and temporarily associated with the card used. Another option is to purchase tickets using a mobile application developed by the ticket issuer or its partners. Traditional paper tickets can be purchased from vending machines at larger bus or tram stops and must be validated at the ticket validator immediately after boarding the vehicle. It is also possible to buy short-term multi-ride tickets (e.g. for 72 or 168 hours), which (in the paper version) only need to be validated once. For details see the website urbancard.pl

WIFI

INTiBS PAN is a member of the eduroam initiative. Therefore, all ESMS 2023 participants and lecturers who are registered users of the eduroam network at their university or institute can automatically access the Internet via our Wi-Fi network without having to create an additional account. If they do not already have an eduroam account, we encourage them to create one at their home institution before coming to Wroclaw.
In addition, a guest Wi-Fi network will be available for unregistered users. The necessary login information will be provided to all participants on site.

TUTORIALS

ESMS 2023 participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to the tutorial sessions. It is possible to attend these sessions without a laptop, doing simple calculations on paper or following the tutor's presentation. However, participants will gain more by doing the exercises on their own computers using standard office packages and basic scientific software. In particular, the following freeware is required to be installed (list under development):
